Rev. Kyle DeLong has served as Senior Pastor of Hickory Church of the Nazarene since October 26, 2014. He heard and acknowledged the call upon his life to become a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ during his recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction. Kyle continues to testify to the miraculous work God is doing in his life by helping others trapped in addiction.

He attended Olivet Nazarene University in 1988, UNC Pembroke in 1991, Trevecca Nazarene University from 1991-1992, Durham Tech. Community College from 2008-2009, and has now successfully completed the course of study in November 2014 through Carolinas School of the Ministry.

Kyle was granted his Local Minister’s License in January 2009 while serving with his father, Rev. Dennis DeLong, at Salisbury First Church of the Nazarene. He received a North Carolina District Minister’s License in June 2011 and became the full-time Youth Pastor at Concord Church of the Nazarene in February 2012. He served in this ministry position until he accepted the call to be the Senior Pastor here at Hickory Church of the Nazarene.

Kyle is the Reentry instructor at Catawba Correctional Center in Newton, NC. He leads a Celebrate Recovery 12 Step Group at Alexander Correctional Center in Taylorsville, NC He also teaches a class on sobriety for the Transformation Journey Reentry group at Foothills Correctional Center in Morganton, NC.

Pastor Kyle is married to the love of his life, Wendy DeLong. Pastor Kyle lives passionately and speaks zealously about the wonderful healing and transforming power of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He has dedicated his entire life and ministry to serve the Master whenever and wherever He calls!

 




Worship Leader

Gene Thompson

Gene Thompson joined our fellowship in March 2020. He and his wife Crystal have been a wonderful addition to our church family. Shortly thereafter he accepted the position as Worship Leader for Hickory Church of the Nazarene. We are truly blessed that he is willing to serve Christ with his musical gifts.
